State of Siege: Temple Attack is an action thriller film directed by Ken Ghosh. The film is a dramatized retelling of the true events of a terrorist attack on the Akshardham temple in 2002 in Gandhinagar, India.

This film is the next installment to State of Siege: 26/11 (2020), a mini web series about 2008 Mumbai attacks. The film revolves around the real incident of the Akshardham temple attack and follows Major Hanut Singh (Akshaye Khanna).

The film explores one of the dark chapters in the history of India. The film may be unsettling for some as it might bring up unpleasant memories. But, for its storytelling, performances, and action sequences, it is worth watching. One of the good parts of the film is that it is less than 2 hours long, which also backfires when it comes to very little character development. The film also has some execution flaws, the film seems like it is in so much hurry and feels choppy in some places. But, we should also consider that the film is about the event and not about particular characters. Undoubtedly, Akshaye Khanna is a talented actor and carries the whole film. The film also casts Abhimanyu Singh as Abu Hamza in a negative role. The film gives a fitting tribute to our NSG soldiers. The film doesn’t go near to the grandness of Aditya Dhar’s URI: The Surgical Strike (2018), but it does have the similar vibe to it.

Verdict : The film educates about this event. Though it has flaws, the film surely gives that patriotic feel to the viewers. And, seeing Akshaye Khanna’s very first performance in the digital space is a real treat.
