Yeh Saali Aashiqui is a romantic thriller film directed by a debutant Cherag Ruparel. The film is written by Ruparel and Vardhan Puri, grandson of Amrish Puri. The film stars debutantes Vardhan Puri and Shivaleeka Oberoi.
The film revolves around Sahil (Vardhan Puri) and Mitee (Shivaleeka Oberoi), who meet in college and fall in love with each other. But the series of unfortunate events turn their dreamy romance into a nightmare and set them against each other.
The film takes a stereotypical college romance story and twists it into an engaging revenge thriller. The leads of the film are debutants but they have done a fairly good job with their performance. The direction and the screenplay of the film also keep your eyes glued to the screen. The story and the execution-wise, it is surely one of the most underrated films from Bollywood. The film is daring and tries to tackle the gender-biased mindset of society. The only flaw which I felt is that at a few places the film feels choppy and a little dragged. At some level, the film is predictable, but it takes interesting and unexpected twists and turns towards the climax. The film is available on Zee5 to watch.
Verdict : The film is a captivating psychological thriller and enjoyable throughout its runtime.
