Dream Girl (2019) – Movie Review

Dream Girl is a romantic comedy film directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa. The film revolves around Karam Singh (Ayushmann Khurrana), who lands a secret job at a hotline call center, where he uses his female voice impersonation to beget the attention of callers.

The film has a similar storyline as that of Ayushmann’s first film Vicky Donor (2012), where a guy who is in the need of a job and money takes the dubious job. And how this job gets out of his hands and starts affecting his personal and social life. This film has a fresh and unusual topic which works to some extent. But after some time, it starts feeling tiresome and slow towards the end.

Apart from Ayushmann Khurrana, the film also stars Nushrat Bharucha, Annu Kapoor, Manjot Singh, Vijay Raaz, Abhishek Banerjee, Raj Bhansali, and Nidhi Bisht. Performance-wise, everybody has done a great job. The comedy scenes are apt and work well. The musical numbers in the film are also enjoyable. The film tries to give some important social messages but those aren’t as impactful as Ayushmann’s other films.

Verdict : This is a one-time-watch fun rom-com film.

Rating : 3.2/5
