Golmaal Again is the fourth installment with magic masala in the Rohit Shetty directorial comedy entertainer Golmaal Series and his tenth film in collaboration with Ajay Devgan. Nowadays, comedy films are losing the grip as it is difficult to keep audience rooted because of the lack of strong and original content. But this one is surely able to stand apart and deliver not the best but mediocre waves of laughter with visually stunning and beautiful lacales.
It is the story of five orphans Gopal (Ajay Devgan), Madhav (Arshad Warsi), Lucky (Tusshar Kapoor), Laxman (Shreyas Talpade), and Laxman (Kunal Khemu) who were brought up in the same orphanage, divided in their childhood, but again brought together by some higher power’s will to serve the purpose against injustice. As the film’s tagline says “No logic only magic”, it is the comical horror film with flying people except flying cars, so just leave your brains at home before watching it. One thing to appreciate about this film is that it is been able to pull off the comedy scenes without any vulgarity/adult remarks.
Performances of all the leads along with Tabu, Parineeti Chopra, Sanjay Mishra, Johnny Lever, and Mukesh Tiwari are just fine. There are many moments where laughter blows out in the whole movie theatre which can be the measure of comedy film’s success. But again there are also some scenes which seem sloppy, overacted, and dragged unnecessarily. The running time of the film is half an hour longer which literally consumes first one hour just to build up the quite expected plot.
Verdict : One time watch. Festive family entertainer with lot of laughter moments and literally with no logic.
